Overview
BS10 Plate Flange (Table D / E / F / H) is a flat plate–type flange manufactured in accordance with British Standard BS10. It is produced from carbon steel or stainless steel plate by cutting and machining, with accurately drilled bolt holes and a machined sealing face.
BS10 plate flanges are widely used in water supply, fire protection, HVAC, and general industrial piping systems, particularly in projects that follow British or Commonwealth standards.
BS10 Plate Flanges are flat flanges without a hub, designed for welding directly to the pipe or for use as backing flanges in flanged connections.
The BS10 standard defines flange dimensions using Table classifications (Table D, E, F, H), each corresponding to different pressure ratings and drilling patterns.
Although BS10 is an older British standard, it is still commonly specified in many markets, especially for maintenance projects and existing pipeline systems.

To ensure safe operation and reliable sealing, follow the steps below:
Verify Specifications
Confirm size, table rating (D/E/F/H), material, and bolt pattern match the mating flange.
Inspect Flange Faces
Ensure sealing surfaces are clean, smooth, and free from scratches or debris.
Select Suitable Gasket
Choose gasket material based on pressure, temperature, and service medium
(rubber, CNAF, PTFE, or spiral wound gasket).
Align Bolt Holes
Position the blank plate flange accurately against the mating flange.
Tighten Bolts Evenly
Use a cross-tightening sequence and apply torque gradually and uniformly.
Leak & Pressure Testing
Conduct hydrostatic or pneumatic testing after installation to confirm sealing integrity.
Note: Always follow recommended torque values and gasket manufacturer guidelines.
FAQ
BS10 uses table designations to define flange dimensions, bolt-hole drilling, and pressure capability. Each table represents a different pressure and dimensional class.
No. Although some pressure levels may appear similar, bolt-hole patterns and dimensions are different. Always follow the specified standard.
BS10 tables are not directly labeled as PN values, but generally:
Table D / E → lower pressure
Table F → medium pressure
Table H → higher pressure
Exact pressure limits depend on size and material and should be verified per BS10.
FF (Flat Face) – commonly used in waterworks and ductile iron systems
RF (Raised Face) – used in steel piping systems depending on gasket design
Carbon steel (for water, fire protection, general service)
Stainless steel (for corrosive or hygienic applications)
